Waiver & Studio Policies
1. Assumption of Risk and Release
Pilates, strength, sculpt, stretching, heated classes, and other movement or fitness activities involve physical exertion and inherent risks, including the possibility of falls, strains, sprains, illness, equipment-related injury, aggravation of a pre-existing condition, or other injury. By voluntarily participating, you acknowledge and assume the ordinary and inherent risks associated with the activity.
To the fullest extent permitted by Maryland law, and subject to the specific waiver presented for signature, participants may be required to release and hold harmless Flex Haus Studio and its owners, employees, instructors, contractors, and agents from claims arising from ordinary risks of participation. This language does not waive claims or rights that cannot legally be waived. The signed client waiver should control if its terms differ from this website summary.
2. Health and Medical Disclosure
- You are responsible for informing your instructor before class about injuries, pregnancy, recent surgery, medical conditions, physical limitations, or other concerns that may affect participation.
- Stop exercising and notify the instructor if you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath beyond normal exertion, or other concerning symptoms.
- Consult an appropriate healthcare professional before beginning or returning to exercise when medically indicated. Flex Haus instructors do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.
3. Minors
A parent or legal guardian must complete required waivers and consents for a minor participant. Age restrictions may apply to certain classes or equipment.
4. Studio Policies
- Arrive at least 10 minutes early for your first visit so you can check in and receive equipment or studio orientation.
- Grip socks are required for Reformer classes.
- Wear comfortable, fitted movement clothing. Avoid loose clothing, dangling accessories, or other items that may interfere with equipment.
- Follow instructor directions and use equipment only as instructed.
- Silence mobile phones during class. Calls, disruptive phone use, and photography or recording during class are not permitted without approval.
- Respect instructors, staff, other clients, equipment, and the studio environment.
- Keep personal belongings in designated areas. Flex Haus is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unattended personal property except as required by law.
- Food and beverages may be restricted in workout areas. Closed water bottles are encouraged.
- Clients should maintain appropriate hygiene and avoid attending class when experiencing a contagious illness or when participation could reasonably endanger others.
- Service animals will be accommodated as required by applicable law.
5. Hands-On Instruction
Pilates instruction may include verbal, visual, and, where appropriate and consented to, hands-on cueing or adjustments intended to support alignment and movement. Clients may decline hands-on assistance at any time.
6. Heated Classes
Heated classes may increase physical demands and the risk of dehydration, dizziness, or overheating. Participants should hydrate appropriately, monitor how they feel, and leave or stop when necessary.
7. Emergency Response
In an emergency, Flex Haus staff may contact emergency services and take reasonable steps to assist until professional help arrives. Participants remain responsible for medical costs incurred on their behalf.
8. Acknowledgment
- Before participating, clients must complete any waiver, release, health acknowledgment, or studio agreement required by Flex Haus. Electronic acceptance may be used where permitted.
